Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a third set.

The opponent saved four early chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
